Members of the AppTek Science Team are on the Greek Island of Rhodes this week to participating at the 2023 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing (ICASSP 2023). ICASSP is a comprehensive technical program with more than 300 oral and poster sessions, complemented by plenaries and perspective talks, tutorials, panels, exhibitions and demonstrations, and industry workshops. These sessions showcase all the latest developments in research and technology for signal processing and its applications.
Read MoreAppTek has been building large language models (LLMs) applied to a variety of human language technology (HLT) topics, ranging from the development of custom LLMs for enterprise specific applications, to augmenting existing automatic speech recognition (ASR), neural machine translation (NMT), text-to-speech (TTS), natural language processing and understanding (NLP/U) models to improve the accuracy and fluency of these systems. Additionally, AppTek’s Data Science team has incorporated its ABCD (AI Bias Correction Data-Science) methodology and evaluation protocols, as well as integrating AppTek’s 4D methodology, which covers a balanced representation of diverse Dialects, Demographics, Domains and Devices, to find ways to ways to increase diversity, equity and ethics in multilingual LLMs, and offer more inclusive and ethical natural language generation systems for enterprise applications.
Read MoreIn celebration of International Women’s Day, it is important to acknowledge the ongoing struggle for gender equality and inclusivity in the technology sector. The digital world offers an unprecedented opportunity for the improvement of the lives of all historically marginalized groups, including women, but it can easily also threaten their well-being. With perpetuated discrimination in the tech sector and bias in automated systems, gender inequalities could be entrenched instead of eliminated. This is why it is even more crucial for women to participate in tech design and governance so that they can help create a digital world that serves everyone’s needs and promotes equality.
