Direct Integration adds value for ENPS users
Applications Technology (AppTek) is proud to announce the integration of AppTek’s Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) technology with the Associated Press ENPS Newsroom Computer System. “AppTek’s neural network ASR API creates a full transcript of media assets,” remarked Adam Sutherland, AppTek CEO. “The transcript files can be used as meta-data to increase the discoverability of the assets. They can also be used as closed-captioning or subtitling files.”
Incorporating AppTek’s Speech Recognition Technology into the ENPS workflow allows journalists to get much more value out of their video. By captioning video files as soon as they are created, news organizations will be able to post their work to the web, mobile and social platforms – with captioning – hours earlier than they can today. Building a full-text transcript archive of their video will improve the speed and comprehensiveness with which journalists and producer are able to search their assets.
“By taking advantage of the ENPS Open API, AppTek is able to bring these key language enhancements to the ENPS user experience,” said Phil Avner, Director of Development for Broadcast at AP.
The integration will initially support English but there are plans to expand to Spanish. AppTek’s ASR supports 14 different languages.
